Seems I’m missing something here.... Seems to be most or all the pad material on the outer left rear brake :
Compare to the right rear:
These were new last year and installed by the dealership before I bought the car.

Could be the caliper sticking and wearing more on outer pad than the inner. You could pull them off and check the inner pad thickness.

Might be parking brake related, if it works by mechanically actuating the caliper.

Unfortunately not on this car, as it’s a drum type parking brake in the hat of the rotor.
Ugh.

Hmm. Might be crusty slider pins, which means the pad drags. Just another thought.

That’s one of my fears.
My other thought is possibly traction control/ABS related.

Made a mad dash to the parts store on my lunch break here and got a bunch of brake goodies. Including slide pins for that side too.

I think the trac/ABS issue is less likely. Obviously not on this car, but have you done brakes before? It’s a pretty easy job. Yours look pretty clean, so you shouldn’t be wrestling with rusty bits.
If you go to the trouble of taking the pads out to look at them, you might as well put new ones in. While you are in there, clean up everything and make sure the sliding parts aren’t bound up.

Yeah, I’ve got tons of time doing brakes on various cars. However, this is the first time I’ve had pad material disappear unevenly on my personal car.
I’ve now got new wagner rear pads, slider pins, hardware and assorted brake stuff (cleaner, caliper grease, etc). The good thing is that the weather is starting to warm up and I can hopefully tackle the job tonight once I get off work.

My thought, too. We recently did one of the front breaks on the fiance’s mom’s Honda. The fiancé did both side not too long ago, but the driver’s side just destroyed itself, while the passenger side looked almost new. Once we took it apart, we found the seal on the caliper had some damage so the pads were gently riding on the disc the whole time. Because of the extra resistance, the drive’s side front tire was also worn to hell while the passenger side was still full of tread. Good times. Check that caliper!
